I go through a lot of Greek yogurt. I use it in marinades, stir it into sauces, swap it for mayo, and bake with it more than I probably think about. At some point, I had enough recipes across the site that pulling them all together just made sense. If you’re here because you have a container sitting in the fridge with no real plan for it, this list of recipes to make with Greek yogurt should help.
The breakfast section has 2-ingredient bagels, Greek yogurt pancakes, chaffles, Turkish eggs, and a French toast casserole. For lunch, there are wraps, a chicken salad that skips the mayo, and a few sandwich options. Dinner covers pasta with yogurt sauce, marinated chicken, a healthy lasagna, and a few Middle Eastern recipes I make on rotation, such as shish barak. The baked Greek yogurt desserts include brownies, banana bread, lemon bread, apple yogurt cake, olive oil cake, date bread, and a cinnamon coffee cake. And at the end, there are dips and sauces, including a Greek yogurt sauce that goes with almost anything.

Tips for Making Recipes with Greek Yogurt
Use it as a substitute. Greek yogurt is a great replacement for sour cream, mayonnaise, or heavy cream in many recipes, adding creaminess without extra fat. In most cases, you can use a 1:1 replacement ratio when swapping in Greek yogurt.
Temper it first. To prevent Greek yogurt from curdling, temper it by stirring in a small amount of warm liquid before adding it to a hot dish. This is especially important for soups and stews with very hot liquids.
Bring it to room temperature. If a recipe involves baking or mixing Greek yogurt with other ingredients, let it sit out for a few minutes. Cold yogurt can cause batters or sauces to seize up.
Use full fat for best texture. Whole milk Greek yogurt provides the creamiest, richest texture, especially in baked goods and sauces. Low-fat and non-fat versions tend to be thinner and less stable, but this will largely depend on the recipe.
Thickening agent. Use Greek yogurt to thicken soups, stews, or smoothies without flour. Just stir it in towards the end of cooking for a rich, creamy texture.
Season generously. Greek yogurt can mellow out other flavors, so don’t hesitate to add extra herbs, spices, or a splash of citrus to enhance the taste.
FAQs
Can I use Greek yogurt instead of regular yogurt in recipes?
In most cases, yes, but Greek yogurt is thicker and tangier than regular yogurt. You may need to thin it with a little milk or water if a recipe calls for a looser consistency.
Can I use non-fat Greek yogurt the same way as whole milk Greek yogurt?
It depends on the recipe. Non-fat Greek yogurt is thinner and less creamy than whole milk Greek yogurt. In baking, this can lead to a drier or less tender texture, so you may need to adjust moisture levels by adding a bit of fat, like butter or olive oil. In savory dishes, it can taste tangier and less rich, so adding extra seasoning, a drizzle of olive oil, or a splash of cream can help balance the flavors.
