    Too much baking powder flavor. Tried it once as the recipe mentioned, and they tasted horrible…then tried with half the amount and it was perfect. If your bananas aren’t very ripe you would definitely add sugar…

    Made as is with no maple syrup on top and was very disappointed. After trying the first piece, it was bland with a strong taste of the powder and I didn’t even use the full measure so 1TB would’ve been way too much! I mixed the bowl some more and checked to see if the powder was expired, it wasn’t – 5/2025 exp date, GF and Al-free. Second piece, same. I added the other half piece banana amongst other things. I trusted the “ripe” note and used fairly spotty bananas, didn’t wait for very ripe bananas [I should’ve]. I’m sure if it had fruit preserves dripping off of it and other foods alongside it I wld rate it higher but pancakes should not require accoutrements.

    I followed the recipe as instructed. Precise measurement. The pancake did not form. It was the same exact measured ingredients. Such a waste of time and money.

        In the recipe it said we can substitute all-purpose flour with almond flour to make it healthier. I did that with the same measurement. It didn’t form to the point where the bottom is cooked already but if I flip the pancake, it will get collapse. If I let it cook longer to make it form, it will burn the bottom side. I retried and let it cook longer which burned the bottom but when I flip it, it still isn’t formed and it still collapsed. I’m cooking at the lowest setting already which also took longer time. I tried adding almond flour, it still didn’t form. I added all-purpose flour and it formed better. Maybe we can’t substitute all-purpose to almond flour?

      I don’t recommend keeping the batter in the fridge with the bananas, as they oxidize pretty quickly and turn brown. Without bananas, it should keep for 2-4 days! The batter also freezes well (with the bananas included). Hope that helps!!

    This is by far the easiest and the most delicious pancake recipe I have ever come across. I have been making them for over a year and it never fails. No added sugar for hidden calories so I can easily add the calories count with the amount of syrup or honey or PB or jam I indulge with the pancake.     I will say these were fluffy, but also quite bland. The baking powder (aluminum free) was overpowering and even adding vanilla and a little extra cinnamon didn’t help much. I will definitely try again with less baking powder and also some sugar. I don’t use syrup but I’m sure that helps.

    Hello! Could I make these without the baking powder? I don’t have any on hand 🙁

      Hi Lydia, the baking powder gives the pancakes their fluffy texture. You can also help them rise by using self-rising flour or whipping egg whites. If you whip egg whites, I recommend adding the yolk and banana to a bowl and mixing as indicated in the instructions (whisking the egg whites into soft peaks in a separate bowl) and then folding them into the banana and yolk mixture. But be careful not to overmix. Hope that helps!!

      Hmm, I’m not sure why your pancakes ended up too dense. It could be a problem with the baking powder. It could also be an under- or over-mixing issue, or possibly an issue of cooking on too low of a temperature. I encourage you to try it again!!

      Great question! The baking powder is what gives the pancakes their fluffy texture. If you don’t have any on hand, you can help them rise by using self-rising flour or whipping egg whites. To whip egg whites, I recommend adding the yolk and banana to a bowl and mixing as indicated in the instructions, whisking the egg whites into soft peaks in a separate bowl, and then folding them into the banana and yolk mixture. Just be careful not to overmix. Hope that helps!!

    This was simple to make and delicious to eat. They were a hit with my pancake connoisseurs so I was glad I doubled the recipe. Will definitely make them again. Enjoyed with maple syrup but also spread one with Nuttzo and a little syrup (yum!). I actually did not use fresh bananas but rather, really ripe bananas that had been previously frozen. Popped them in the microwave to thaw quickly and just measured out the amount needed. What I appreciated was that the pancakes were easy to flip on my griddle and each pancake came out perfectly golden. Next time, I may slice up bananas thinly to lay on top of the batter before flipping and allow the bananas to caramelize before taking off griddle. Perhaps sprinkle chopped walnuts, too…? Thanks for our tasty breakfast this morning!

      Hi Lee, yes you can use a electric griddle! I am not sure the exact temperature – medium is probably your best bet to start and then adjust based on how slow or fast they end up cooking. Hope that helps!

      Thanks for your feedback. I wanted to have a no fat or sugar added recipe, but totally understand if you’d want to adjust to your tastes by adding a little melted butter, coconut oil, or even nut butter in at the end when assembling the batter.

    These pancakes are soooo delicious! They took 5 seconds to whip up (and eat). I halved the recipe to make 1-2 servings (except for the egg- I did 1 full egg for extra protein) I expected it to be bland (because hello? No sugar?!) so I added whipped cream. It did not need it! (It did need the syrup though) I recommend this recipe to anyone who wants a delicious, nutritious, satisfying breakfast.

        I had the same issue and they are not edible. Should come with alternative that if you dotn have aluminium free then you should use much less! It was early in the morning and didnt even think.. Otherwise recipe is good but tje taste of baking powder is awful.
