Try my pomegranate spritzer mocktail recipe!

This Pomegranate Mocktail tastes like fall to me. It’s packed with pomegranate and has a sage-lime simple syrup that adds so much flavor. I’ll absolutely be serving this to guests for Thanksgiving, but it’s a great drink for the whole holiday season!
This sparkling pomegranate mocktail comes together fast: mix the syrup with pomegranate and lime juice and top it off with club soda. It might just be my new favorite drink.
Happy Cooking!

Pomegranate Mocktail Ingredients

- Pomegranate juice: I recommend 100% pomegranate juice. Juice cocktails have a lot of added sugar. You can also use cranberry juice.
- Club soda: Any sparkling water you like works great.
- Simple syrup: Here’s a quick tutorial on how to make simple syrup. Store-bought also works.
- Sage: Roughly tear the leaves to release their flavor. I don’t recommend substituting dried sage.
- Limes: Read my tips on how to juice a lime and how to zest a lime, because I use both in this recipe. I think pomegranate and lime go together well, but you can also try oranges or lemons.
How to Make a Pomegranate Mocktail

Pomegranate Mocktail Recipe
Ingredients
- 4-6 large sage leaves roughly torn
- 2 limes zest and juice divided
- ¼ cup simple syrup
- 4 cups pomegranate juice
- 4 cups club soda
- ¼ cup pomegranate arils for serving
- Lime wedges for serving
Instructions
- Place the sage leaves, lime zest, and simple syrup in a measuring cup with a spout. Use a muddler or the flat end or tip of a wooden spoon to gently press against the ingredients. Turn in each direction to muddle them together.
- Divide the sage syrup into four 16-ounce highball glasses. Divide the pomegranate juice and the reserved lime juice into the cups.
- When ready to serve, add the club soda and stir gently to combine. Add ice and garnish with pomegranate arils and lime wedges, if desired. Serve immediately.
Notes
- My Top Tip: Muddle well. Use a muddler or the rounded end of a wooden spoon to muddle the sage and citrus zest with the simple syrup. This will release their flavors and make the sage syrup potent and delicious.
- Storage: You can store the sage simple syrup in the fridge for 1–2 days. Otherwise, I recommend making the pomegranate mocktails right before serving.

Recipe Variations
- Serve with pomegranate arils and lime wedges. Here’s how to cut and de-seed a pomegranate to get the arils. Or, you can buy arils at the store. I also like to cut limes into wedges for serving.
- Make pomegranate juice ice cubes. When ice melts, it can dilute the mocktail. You can avoid this by freezing pomegranate juice into ice cubes for serving.
Recipe Tips
- Muddle well. Use a muddler or the rounded end of a wooden spoon to muddle the sage and citrus zest with the simple syrup. This will release their flavors and make the sage syrup potent and delicious.
- Use chilled ingredients. Start with well-chilled pomegranate juice and club soda to make the most refreshing mocktails.
- Add the club soda right before serving. Sparkling water loses its bubbles fast, so add it to the pomegranate mocktail right before serving.
- Stir gently. If you stir too vigorously, the mocktail could go flat.
FAQs
You can make the sage syrup a day or two in advance, but I recommend making the pomegranate mocktails right before serving.

Comments
Do you strain the sage leaves out before you make the cocktail?
I muddle the sage leaves in the sage syrup and leave them in but you could try straining them out if you’d like!
