This Pomegranate Mocktail tastes like fall to me. It’s packed with pomegranate and has a sage-lime simple syrup that adds so much flavor. I’ll absolutely be serving this to guests for Thanksgiving, but it’s a great drink for the whole holiday season!

Water with a holiday spread just doesn’t seem festive enough! That’s why I came up with this Pomegranate Mocktail. It starts with making an easy, sage-infused simple syrup. Basically, it’s just muddling the syrup with lime zest and sage, so each sip tastes of herbs and citrus. If you don’t have simple syrup at home, it’s very fast to make! Just heat a 1:1 mixture of water and sugar in a saucepan, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Once it’s cooled, it’s ready to use!
Otherwise, this sparkling pomegranate mocktail comes together fast: mix the syrup with pomegranate and lime juice and top it off with club soda. It might just be my new favorite drink.

Why This Is So Good
- Fast: I love this pomegranate mocktail because it takes no time to make.
- Make-ahead: You can make the sage syrup and mix the pomegranate and lime juices ahead of time to make this pomegranate spritzer mocktail recipe even faster.
- Crowd-friendly: This can easily be a batch mocktail. Make triple (or quadruple!) the amount of sage syrup and juice mixture, pour it into a carafe, and let guests serve themselves and add club soda.
Ingredients to Make Pomegranate Mocktail
- Sage: Roughly tear the sage leaves so they release their flavor easier. I wouldn’t substitute dried sage!
- Limes: You use the zest and juice in this pomegranate mocktail. I like adding lime wedges too for serving!
- Simple syrup: This is basically sugar water! You can make your own or use store-bought.
- Pomegranate juice: I recommend using 100% pomegranate juice for the best flavor!
- Club soda: This is just sparkling water! Feel free to use any other sparkling water you like.
- Pomegranate arils: Adding some pomegranate seeds to each cocktail makes the drink even prettier.
Popular Substitutions & Additions
- Make it cranberry. Instead of pomegranate juice (and seeds), you can use cranberry juice instead.
- Switch up the citrus. I think pomegranate and lime go perfectly together, but you could try orange or lemon instead.
- Add spice. Try mixing a little ground cardamom or nutmeg into the sage syrup.
- Make pomegranate juice ice cubes. When ice melts, it can dilute the drink! This isn’t a bad thing, but it just happens. You can avoid this by freezing pomegranate juice into ice cubes.
How to Make Pomegranate Mocktail
This pomegranate mocktail basically just requires muddling and mixing!
Tips for Making the Best Pomegranate Juice Mocktail
- Make sure to muddle well. You’ll want to use a muddler or the rounded end of a wooden spoon to muddle the sage, and citrus zest well with the simple syrup. This will release their flavors and make the sage syrup potent and delicious!
- Use fresh lime juice. I think freshly squeezed lime juice is much more flavorful than the bottled stuff. If you can, use fresh.
- Add the club soda right before serving. Sparkling water loses its bubbles fast, so add it to the pomegranate mocktail right before serving.
- Cut and deseed your pomegranate the right way. I detail how to do deseed and cut a pomegranate here, but I recommend using a bowl of water and a wooden spoon to release the pomegranate arils!
Frequently Asked Questions
The sage syrup can be made a day or two ahead, but I recommend making the pomegranate mocktail right before serving.
I would recommend using 100% pomegranate juice. Juice cocktails have a lot of added sugar in them and I prefer the pure flavor of all-juice.
Nope! You absolutely don’t have to. This mocktail will be just as delicious without them.
I can’t decide what’s better about this Pomegranate Mocktail: how delicious or easy it is to make. It’s the perfect drink to serve with a holiday cheeseboard because it’s sweet, tart, fizzy, and just a little savory, thanks to the sage.

Do you strain the sage leaves out before you make the cocktail?
I muddle the sage leaves in the sage syrup and leave them in but you could try straining them out if you’d like!
