My Chocolate granola is so good!
This chocolate granola is a regular in my house. I use it for all the things cereal, yogurt topper, or just snacking on in general. It’s got a deep cocoa flavor, crunch, and just enough sweetness to feel like a treat without being cloying sweet. I usually make a double batch of this chocolate granola and stash it in a jar on the counter it never lasts long!
Happy Cooking!
– Yumna
Chocolate Granola Ingredients
- Rolled oats: Use rolled or old fashioned oats instead of quick or minute oats!
- Nuts and seeds: I love the taste of flax seeds in this chocolate granola (plus they’re rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids), but if you don’t have any on hand, you can add in almonds, walnuts, pecans, dried cranberries, dried cherries, or coconut flakes, instead.
- Chocolate and cocoa powder: I recommend unsweetened cocoa powder and a chopped chocolate bar instead of chocolate chips for larger chunks and less sweetness.
- Honey and vanilla extract: These are my go-tos for sweetening my granola, but feel free to swap in agave syrup or maple syrup, instead.
- Coconut oil: Melted coconut oil is great for combining all your other ingredients.
- Seasoning: For seasoning, I usually use nutmeg, ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, and sea salt, but feel free to mix up your spice blend based on your preferences. Just don’t skip the salt!

Ingredients
- 4 cups rolled oats
- ½ cup flaxseeds
- ⅓ cup coconut oil melted
- ⅓ cup honey
- 5 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup dark chocolate chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 275°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the coconut oil, honey, vanilla, cocoa powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir until a smooth paste forms.
- Fold in the oats and flaxseeds. Mix until all the chocolate paste is well distributed and coats all the oats.
- Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking sheet and spread into an even layer.
- Bake for 50 minutes, stirring once at about 30 minutes in to redistribute the oats.
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle the chopped chocolate over the top. Stir slightly (just a couple of swirls) to form some clusters.
- Allow to cool completely before storing in an airtight container at room temperature. Makes about 6 cups.

Recipe Tips
- Make it sweeter by increasing the amount of honey in the recipe. The unsweetened cocoa powder can be a little bitter! If you like your granola on the sweeter side, feel free to add 2-3 more tablespoons of your sweetener.
- Take it easy on the mix-ins. It can be tempting to throw all the nuts and dried fruits in your pantry into a batch of granola, but with too many mix-ins, you’ll throw off the texture and flavoring of your basic chocolate granola!
Serving Ideas
- Make a yogurt parfait. My personal favorite way to enjoy this granola is over a bowl of plain, full-fat Greek yogurt with some fresh berries. It balances out the tart, creaminess of the yogurt and the brightness of the berries perfectly!
- Eat it with milk. For an extra quick, satisfying breakfast, my kids love to eat bowls of this chocolate granola with milk and sliced banana. You can even make homemade almond milk or oat milk!
- Top your baked goods. Topping with sweet chocolate granola is a perfect way to lend some extra crunch to breakfast baked goods. Try adding it to the top of a batch of warm banana bread muffins!

I made this Chocolate Granola with Oath, Maple Roasted Almonds overnight oats. It turned out absolutely delicious! Wow, so much goodness!
Just wanted to let you know that I tried this and LOVED it! It was just the snack (or yogurt topper) that I needed to feel like I was having a treat, but still being healthy! Truly, thank you for this!
Yay! So glad you liked it!
Loved it but not sure why around 20 mins they started to get a bit burnt
I used 1/4 cup coconut oil and the remaining sunflower oil, 180 degree Celsius oven
Any idea why this might have happened ?
I love your recipes 💕
Thank you so much! I am not sure why they would have started to burn, you can try lowering the oven temp next time for a slower roast.
Where did you get 180°C? The recipe says 275°F, so that’d be 130°C
Great recipe
Thank you
Aww, you’re so welcome!

Can we use maple syrup instead of honey ??
❤️❤️
Yes, you can!
Hi there! So I’m learning how to count macros and I came across this granola. I’ve made it this weekend and it is amazing!! There’s a perfect sweetness to it. I was reading the calories and the servings but I’m not sure what the 240 cal consist of. What’s the serving size for the 240 cal?
I’m so glad you enjoyed it that much! The nutrition info is for one of the fifteen servings. I recommend weighing the final product and then dividing it by 15 to get a serving.
Can I substitute flaxseeds with chia seeds?
You could, but it would change the texture. If you decide to do that, I also recommend adding more oats, so you don’t have to add as many chia seeds.
These were so simple to make with clean ingredients. I added chia seeds ,cranberries and pumpkin seeds to mine and they turned out great!
This is an amazing recipe for chocolately granola! I would suggest using refined coconut oil so it doesn’t taste too much of coconut but if you love coconut go for unrefined! I also used gf oats and cacao powder with an extra TBS of honey for added sweetness.
Thank you so much! I’m glad to hear it!
Super recepie, very-very yummiiiii!
Yay! Thank you so much!

Yes, you definitely can!
Hello Yumna , i have trying to find the no bake oatmeal energy ball? Cant find the recipe:(
Hi! It’s on my website under No Bake Energy Bites, or you can find it using this link: https://feelgoodfoodie.net/recipe/no-bake-energy-bites/
I’ve made this more than five times already and my family really likes it. I’m making it again soon.
That’s amazing! I’m so happy to hear it!
Can I make it into bars? What would I need to change ? Thanks!
I probably wouldn’t recommend making these into bars because they will turn out pretty crunchy. I think you’d almost be better off placing the uncooked mixture on a baking sheet, cutting it into bars, and serving (without baking).
this is honestly the best granola I’ve ever had!!!
Aww, thank you so much!
I’m OBSESSED with this granola!!!! Good luck trying not to eat it all in one sitting… 🤣🤣🤣 It’s amazing on everything… Yogurt… Tossed some in my smoothie this morning… Trust me it’s so good… U can have it in oatmeal or just eat it mindlessly bc you can 😅😁
I made a cauliflower Rice pudding and it was to die for on it.
Thank you Yumna for such amazing recipes. This is definitely a favorite and will be on repeat in this house. ❤️
It’s definitely a challenge! That sounds so good! Thank you so much!
