I love roasted potatoes (see my recipes for roasted parm potatoes and garlic roasted potatoes), but there’s just something about whole baby potatoes that hits differently. I think it’s the all-around crispy, crackling skin that gives way to a soft, creamy potato!
These Air Fryer Baby Potatoes are exactly that but also spiced so deliciously with paprika, onion powder, and garlic making them super flavorful. After popping the seasoned potatoes in the air fryer, the appliance does the rest of the work. You only have to shake the basket once!

Why This Is So Good
- Simple, pantry-friendly ingredients: I almost always have what I need to make this air fryer baby potatoes recipe in my pantry. It’s an anytime side!
- Cooks fast: Because air fryers are so small, they heat up quickly and cook faster than an oven (or even a toaster oven). This is why the potatoes only need to cook for 20 minutes!
- Goes with anything: Roast chicken? Yup! Air fryer salmon? Absolutely. Crispy cutlets? For sure! These air fryer baby potatoes are such a versatile side dish.
Ingredients to Make Air Fryer Baby Potatoes
- Baby potatoes: It’s key to use baby potatoes. This will make sure the potatoes are small enough that they cook quickly!
- Olive oil: This helps the potatoes brown and the spices stick to them.
- Paprika, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper: This is my go-to spice mixture for these air fryer baby potatoes because it’s simple but adds so much flavor.
Popular Substitutions & Additions
- Use other spices. That said, you can use any spices! Italian or ranch seasoning would be delicious.
- Top with grated Parmesan or pecorino romano. After the potatoes have cooked, top them with grated cheese and pop them back into the air fryer for another minute or so or until the cheese melts!
- Add fresh herbs. Chopped, fresh cilantro, parsley, dill, basil, or mint would be a great addition to this side.
- Serve them with a sauce or dip. I love to serve these air fryer baby potatoes with tzatziki or tahini sauce!
How to Make Air Fryer Baby Potatoes
These potatoes are as simple as tossing them with a little oil and seasonings and popping them in the air fryer. That’s it!
Tips for Making the Best Baby Gold Potatoes Recipe Air Fryer
- Don’t crowd the air fryer basket. It’s important to place the potatoes in an even layer without crowding! This will allow air to circulate all around the potatoes, cooking and browning them quickly.
- Adjust the cooking time if needed. Some air fryers run hotter than others, and some cooler, so use my recipe time as a starting point and tweak as needed!
- Shake the basket midway through cooking. Because air fryers have heating elements in their ceilings, the tops of the food will brown faster than the bottoms. That’s why it’s important to shake the basket and redistribute the food midway through cooking.
- Check to see if the potatoes are done. I like to use a fork to check to see if the potatoes are done before removing them from the air fryer basket! If the fork easily pierces and goes through the potatoes, they’re done.

Frequently Asked Questions
Kept in an airtight container in the fridge, the cooked potatoes will last for up to 3 days. To reheat them, I like to use an air fryer so they get crispy again! Just pop them in a 380°F air fryer for a few minutes or until they’re warmed through.
I wouldn’t recommend it. Bigger whole potatoes will take much longer to cook! This recipe is specifically designed with baby potatoes.
You certainly can! Cook them on a baking sheet in the oven. They’ll probably need a few minutes longer to cook, though!
I would keep my air fryer around just so I could make potatoes in it! These Air Fryer Baby Potatoes are further proof of that. They’re crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. In fact, these potatoes are so good I have a hard time not eating one after the other as the rest of dinner cooks!
