Ingredients

For the Crema:

  • 1 avocado
  • ¼ cup Greek yogurt or sour cream
  • 1 lime zested and juiced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

For the Burger:

  • ½ avocado
  • 1 pound ground beef 90% lean
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 hamburger buns for serving
  • Lettuce and tomato slices for serving

Instructions

  • Make the crema. In a food processor, combine all ingredients until creamy. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Set aside in the fridge until ready to serve.
  • Make the burgers. In a large bowl, mash the avocado. Add beef, salt and pepper and mix until combined. Form into 4-5 patties, about 1/2 inch thick.
  • Preheat a grill or cast iron pan to medium high heat. Add oil and cook the burgers until seared and golden brown, 4 minutes per side. Transfer to a platter and serve with a bun, reserved avocado crema, and desired toppings.

Notes

Storage: Store the patties in an airtight container for up to 4 days. Reheat on the stovetop until warmed through.
Freezing Instructions: You can freeze the burgers before cooking by placing them on a baking sheet in the freezer. When frozen, transfer to an airtight container or freezer bag and keep for 3 months.
