Homemade Healthy Ranch Dip
Did you know that Ranch dressing and dip is one of those foods with all kinds of urban legends surrounding it? It is nearly impossible for food historians to accurately pin down the actual creation of the recipe. However, I lay claim to this Homemade Healthy Ranch Dip and encourage you to make it as a healthy snack or as one of a few dips on an ultra-healthy buffet table.
Serve this with carrots and cucumbers or even poured over cooked vegetables as a dreamy sauce (you can thin it out with a bit more almond milk). Low in fat and calories, it is going to become one of your go to recipes when you are serving dips and snacks.
You won’t miss the heavy and calorie laden buttermilk and oils that are so common to classic Ranch recipes here. The key ingredient is the Greek yogurt, and it brings along that gorgeous, tangy flavor that has made it a global favorite. The yogurt has twice the amount of protein as traditional yogurts and brings a huge amount of calcium, too. The recipe also gets a bit of its zingy flavor from apple cider vinegar, and this too is an ingredient that functions as a health food as well as a tasty addition. It is known for supporting good digestion, aiding in nutrient absorption and even combating high cholesterol.
The almond milk is used to give the dip a silky texture, but it also brings along a lot of calcium and vitamin C. It is a great source of iron, magnesium and folate, too. The herbs and spices include a good balance of flavors and give the dish an amazingly fresh kick. The fresh dill is a real standout and just cannot be replaced with any dried variation.
