Mint 29 Opens in Dearborn Michigan
This post is sponsored by Mint 29. All opinions are my own based on my experience dining at the restaurant.
Growing up in Dearborn, Michigan, we were never short of restaurant options to go to, especially Middle Eastern restaurants with our favorite arabic food. But as I got older and became a “swanky food blogger” (shameless self-promotions haha), I yearned for more than just hummus and chicken salads on the menus. I wanted to experience restaurants with a fresh approach, restaurants who sourced their ingredients locally and restaurants that excited me with new flavors and presentations. So I found myself driving to Birmingham or Detroit to experience a different selection of food. I moved away from Dearborn 10 years ago when I got married, and coming back to visit has been so refreshing lately! Downtown Dearborn is now bustling with a growing number of fun new restaurants and great dining options like the new Mint 29!
So I’m officially back living in Michigan and visiting my family in Dearborn this month. My friends and I decided to try out the new Mint 29 in Dearborn and we were geeked about the upscale international cuisine. We started with a fresh seafood ceviche made with salmon, black cod, onions and avocados in a cilantro citrus marinade. It was served with tortilla chips and it was zesty, fresh and flavorful! Another appetizer we tried was the Peppercorn crusted Fried Gulf Shrimp. They do not skimp out on the size of those shrimps – perfectly crispy and perfectly seasoned! We also got the bread and cheese tapenade…because carbs are a gal’s best friend! I love the presentation of the bread with the knife and the three little bowls of olives, tzatziki and the sriracha pesto feta…it was the perfect dish to share and wet our appetites! Please excuse the low quality snapchat photos. I was totally not expecting to write this restaurant review until after my meal ended!
For the entrees, there was definitely some red meat favoritism on the my menu, which didn’t bode too well for some of us, but luckily we all love seafood, so there were great options that worked for us. I got the Black Cod Miso, which I didn’t expect to literally be black, but it was an effect of the caramelized sugar on the outside of the cod, which gave it a slightly sweet taste that balanced well with the citrus mirin. I didn’t care too much for the power quinoa blend that the dish was served with but the cod itself was wonderfully tender and flaky wish a fresh flavor…definitely something you need to try if you visit!
For dessert, we tried the classic creme brulee and the habanero chocolate cake – a moist, rich cake with a spicy cinnamon kick. We enjoyed our desserts on the adorable patio outside which is shared with a few other restaurants in Downtown Dearborn. The patio was probably my favorite part because there’s just something magical about dining outside when the sun is setting and there’s a cool breeze as you sip on some tea and share laughs with your BFFS.
So excited I tried Mint 29 and I’m looking forward to coming back!
